Cast iron inspection surface plate is a fundamental and precision measuring tool widely applied in mechanical manufacturing, mold processing, hardware inspection, aerospace, and other industrial fields. It serves as a stable, flat reference platform for workpiece inspection, marking, assembly, debugging, and precision measurement, playing an irreplaceable role in ensuring the dimensional accuracy and processing quality of mechanical parts.
Made of high-quality HT200-HT300 gray cast iron as the core raw material, this surface plate features excellent physical and mechanical properties: high casting density, good wear resistance, stable structural performance, and strong vibration absorption capacity. These characteristics ensure the plate can maintain high flatness for a long time under the action of external force, temperature change, and long-term use, and resist wear and deformation caused by workpiece contact, cutting fluid erosion, and workshop environmental factors.
The production process of cast iron inspection surface plate undergoes multiple rigorous procedures to guarantee precision and stability. After casting, the blank is subject to natural aging for more than 6 months (or artificial aging treatment), which eliminates the internal stress generated during casting, reduces the risk of post-processing and long-term use deformation, and optimizes the internal tissue of the cast iron. Then, it experiences rough machining, finish machining, and precision grinding/polishing of the working surface; the working surface is finally processed with scraping treatment—a key process to achieve high flatness. Professional technicians use scraping tools to form uniform oil storage points on the surface, which not only ensure the flatness accuracy of the plate but also store lubricating oil to reduce friction between the workpiece and the plate surface, and facilitate the discharge of dust and debris, further protecting the precision of the measuring surface.
According to industrial application requirements, cast iron inspection surface plates are classified by accuracy grade into Grade 00, Grade 0, Grade 1, Grade 2, and Grade 3, among which Grade 00 and Grade 0 are high-precision grades for laboratory precision measurement and high-precision workpiece inspection; Grade 1 and Grade 2 are suitable for workshop on-site inspection, marking, and assembly; Grade 3 is mainly used for rough positioning and simple workpiece placement. The specifications are customizable from small sizes (e.g., 200×300mm) for small part inspection to large heavy-duty plates (e.g., 3000×6000mm or larger) for large-scale mold, mechanical equipment base, and workpiece assembly, and can be equipped with supporting accessories such as T-slots, mounting holes, and lifting lugs according to user needs—T-slots enable the fixation of workpieces, clamps, and measuring instruments, expanding the plate's application scope in clamping and fixed measurement.
The working surface of the qualified cast iron inspection surface plate has strict quality standards: no cracks, sand holes, shrinkage cavities, slag inclusions, and other casting defects; the scraping points are evenly distributed (the number of scraping points per square inch meets the corresponding accuracy grade requirements); the flatness error is controlled within the national standard or international standard range. In addition, the non-working surface and edge are processed with deburring, chamfering, and anti-rust painting to enhance the service life and appearance quality of the plate.
In actual use, the cast iron inspection surface plate needs to be properly installed, used, and maintained to preserve its precision. It should be placed on a stable and level foundation, and adjusted with leveling screws to ensure the working surface is in a horizontal state; avoid heavy impact, scratch, and overload on the working surface; clean the surface with a clean cloth after use, and apply anti-rust oil for protection when not in use for a long time, and store it in a dry, ventilated, and temperature-stable workshop environment. Regular precision re-inspection and scraping maintenance are also required to timely eliminate the slight deformation and wear of the surface, ensuring the plate's long-term use accuracy.
