Key Points in Machining of 3D Welding Platform
Flatness/Parallelism
The table surface must be strictly controlled for flatness to ensure stable fixturing and accurate welding.
Both the top surface and bottom support surface need high parallelism to avoid tilting or uneven stress.
Hole Position Accuracy
Hole-grid(3D)tables rely on precise hole positioning for modular fixturing.
Hole pitch,verticality,and position tolerance must meet strict standards.
Any error in hole location will cause fixture misalignment and reduce repeatability,especially for robotic welding.
Surface Roughness/Finish
The working surface must be smooth but not slippery for clamping stability.
Excessively rough surfaces make cleaning difficult;overly smooth surfaces reduce friction.
Proper finish also improves wear resistance and anti‑spatter performance.
Material Stability/Stress Relief
The platform must undergo vibration stress relief or heat treatment before finish machining.
Unrelieved internal stress will cause deformation,warping,or cracking during welding or long-term use.
Only stable blanks ensure dimensional accuracy after machining.
Perpendicularity of Side Surfaces
The four side surfaces must be perpendicular to the top surface and to each other.
This allows multi‑side fixturing and extension with additional tables or frames.
Avoiding Thermal Deformation During Machining
Large platforms are prone to thermal expansion during cutting.
Use stable clamping,reasonable cutting parameters,and cooling to maintain precision.
Edge/Corner Treatment
Sharp edges must be gently deburred or chamfered for safety.
Avoid over‑chamfering that reduces effective clamping area.
Quality Inspection Standards
Use precision tools:laser calibration,coordinate measuring machine(CMM),level gauges.
Record and trace flatness,hole position,parallelism,and perpendicularity.
